It's quite creative...

Greetings,

I know that this mail will get to you as a surprise but it was due to a matter of necessity I contacted you over a business proposal which will be of great benefit. Let me quickly introduce myself, I am Mrs. Inna Gudavadze, the wife of late Mr. Badri Patarkatsishvili, the Georgian billionaire who was found dead at about 10.45 pm, Tuesday February 12, 2008 at his Surrey mansion. He was aged 52, a month after running unsuccessfully for the Georgian presidency, was one of the "oligarchs" who made a fortune from the privatization of state-owned industries during the Yeltsin era and eventually found a haven in Britain, where he was recently linked to a possible bid for West Ham football club.

You can read more for your better understanding in the below websites:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/1578596/Badri-Patarkatsishvili.html

http://www.buzzle.com/articles/177933.html

My entire family is currently battling with the Georgian and Russian authorities over my husband wealth and as a matter of fact our family lawyer was arrested and currently in prison unjustly hence the reason i had to take extreme measures to contact you in this manner. As a result of my struggle with the authorities, all my banks accounts, both foreign accounts were frozen and properties confiscated except for a profiling cash amount of US$88.5 Million that my late husband deposited as consignment with a European firm shortly before he died, so i need your urgent help to secure these funds, since i can't go for claims myself as it could lead to exposure of the funds and further confiscation by the Authorities.

For your assistance in embarking on this task, you will receive thirty-percent of the total funds once the transaction is completed. If you know you can do this, contact me immediately via my secured email: (gsina@inbox.ru) so that I can furnish you with more details but if my offer is of no appeal to you, delete this message and forget I ever contacted you.

Thanks for your understanding.

Cordially, ,
Mrs. Inna Gudavadze.
Secured Email: gsina@inbox.ru

Life moves on.

I find it somehow sad and somehow funny that the last post I wrote was regarding the bad economy.

Anyways, the job hunt is going slow. There honestly isn't much to apply for right now. Freelance work is really pouring in though, so I've been working non-stop and hopefully building a business with two of my friends that will amount to something someday. In theory I can make a really good living doing freelance, it's just scary because it's not as stable / predictable as being employed full-time and it takes a little time to get established.

This week I've been going down to Lakeville with Chris everyday and working at coffee shops with my laptop. It's good because it forces me to get up early and stay focused. I've been getting more work done this way and it's nice because we get to have lunch together and talk on the drive to and from the apartment.

The kittehs are adorable. Pene's new favorite spot is on the back of the couch. She likes it there because the heat from the register funnels up behind it and keeps her nice and toasty. She can also sunbathe and watch birds out the window from that spot. I've also got baby-fever lately. Dave Quamme's little girl Allison is just too cute. She just turned 2 and is very very sweet. Sometimes when we all hang out he brings her with and so she's gotten to the point where she trusts me and likes to jabber on about her favorite show "The Wiggles". Lol....I'm tempted to steal her.

Chris and I have his work Christmas party tomorrow night. It's at a ski resort south of the cities and it should be a good time. His company also just moved buildings on Monday. The new one is only a couple miles from the old one so the drive isn't much different. The building is beautiful. Chris' company Hearth and Home Technologies is owned by a much larger company named HNI. They specialize in a lot of other industries besides fireplaces, so they had a lot of additional resources to contribute to the new building. They had professional space planners and interior decorators working on it. The also got very high-end cubes and chairs through one of HNI's other companies.

So life is good. Not what I expected...but life is rarely what we expect. Last night I told Chris that I'm scared and he told me something to the effect that fear keeps life exciting. And I suppose he's right. Although things are crazy right now I'm probably overall more happy than I was before I got laid off. I'm definitely more satisfied with the type of work I'm doing now. A quote about life comes to mind that I learned back during my days of being LDS.

"I never said it would be easy, I only said it would be worth it."

I don't know where exactly this quote came from only that it's true. The best things in life rarely come easily.

Signs of the times.

The economy must be bad. I'm searching through a stock photography site for some real estate related photos and I've found more than one photo stamped "Foreclosure". Apparently there is a market for this now. Dahlia managed to pivot the chair in such a way that she could look out the window. She also curled herself up with this blanket and pillow. She is the queen of finding comfortable spots around the apartment. Warm laundry is probably her favorite.

And then Pene came over to see what all the fuss was about. Oh and this coming Saturday will be Dahlia's 1st birthday. We wanted to have a kitty party and invite their friends over....well, the cats of our friends....but unfortunately cats aren't social like dogs and we would just end up with a hissing party. So instead we are going to make her a cheeseburger (sans bun and toppings...so just a burger patty with cheese). Any advice on what to do about their wild nighttime behavior?"

Well, I guess for the most part we've been lucky. They tend to curl up and sleep with us most of the time. That in it's self can be inconvenient though. Dahlia sleeps on me. Mostly on my tummy or side, but if I'm on my side facing outward from the bed she'll spoon herself up in front of my face, so that I need to reposition just so I can breath. Pene spends the first part of her night laying on Chris' chest gazing into his face and then at some point in the night she sleeps on my pillow and wraps herself around my head. Sometimes I wake up and she's sleeping in the middle of the pillow and my head is on a few inches of the bottom corner.

On most occasions when they feel like late night antics they take it out to the living room. There are better things out there to climb on, play with, and run through I guess. But occasionally they start tearing through our room playing "who's chasing who?"

Or Pene likes to wake Chris up when he sleeps in on weekends. (Pene by the way is in love with Chris. She has been from the time we got her. We used to joke that she was constantly trying to get rid of me so that she could have him all to herself. ) It's very humorous to watch her work. She'll start purring and come up to his face to give him some kisses. He usually grumbles and pulls the covers over his head. She will scout all around looking for some sort of opening in the blanket she can stick her nose into.

There is usually only one method of stopping playful kittens while you are trying to sleep. It involves placing them about 4 inches outside of your bedroom door and then swiftly closing it. :)

Seriously though, I think it does get better with age just like real babies. When we first got them they did a lot of that playful pouncing on your feet under the blanket and whatnot, but eventually they calm down.

Other News:

I tried to make the Verde Chili last night, so that it could sit in the crock pot today. Well it didn't go very well. The concoction sitting at home sort of resembles barf, so I've received a great deal of advice and coaching from my coworkers today. My chili rescue plan involves beans (both regular and refried), sour cream, and cheese. /cross my fingers

Today while scouring Reddit.com I found a couple of particularly interesting articles.

This first one was particularly entertaining being a web designer, but I think that anyone can appreciate the author's commentary. I will warn you though that there is a little bit of foul language.

Internet '96

This next one is just...well...random.

Bird poops in mouth

Enjoy. And everybody have a great weekend!

Plastic, rubber, ribbon, string, hair, melon.

Well, not a lot is new. So I'll just bore you with things that are of mild interest.

We're looking forward to the weekend. Last weekend my Dad and brother Michael came to visit, which is always fun, but busy, busy, busy. The Winter Carnival starts <strike>Wednesday</strike> today and lasts until the 3rd. I'm excited to see the ice sculptures. We are also going to this cool little hamburger place we saw featured on the Food Network. I can't remember the name right now.

Speaking of Food Network. Chris and I have become addicts. So I finally have the desire to cook for us. So tonight I'm making some baked chicken and potatoes. Tomorrow night we are having this Chili Verde stuff. Well maybe modified a little. It needs to simmer forever, though. So I'm actually going to put it all together tonight and then let it simmer on low tomorrow while we are at work.

Kitty News:

If there is one thing I know about kitties...it's they like an Omega Paw Whirly Mouse Jr. The first day I gave it to them I came home that night and couldn't even find it. It took me all weekend to realize that in a fit of playful excitement they shoved it clear under Chris' recliner. Then a couple of days later they actually managed to pull the ball out of it's track! So I put the ball back in and now everyday they play with it until it tips upside-down (which must make it unusable :) ) and then I fix it for them and it starts again.

Most of you already know that Dahlia loves to eat weird stuff. You know...plastic, rubber, ribbon, string, hair, melon, whatever. So yesterday morning I'm getting ready for work and I walk by and notice there are some socks laying in her vicinity. She's very nonchalantly laying there acting innocent. But the long piece of sock string hanging from her whiskers gave her away. I'm very curious how many inedible things she eats everyday.

Turkeys in Eden Prairie?

So today I saw the local turkeys for the first time. I had received an emailing advertising all of the post-Christmas specials and so it sparked our interest. After driving around a couple of lots we gave up. It was cold and snowing and gross out. The biggest problem being that all the cars are covered in snow...so it puts a little damper on the selection process. Anyways, we ended up just driving to a new area of the cities that we haven't explored and grabbed some lunch at Dairy Queen. While we were eating and reading the paper I found some more ads for cars. Grand Prixs particularly (which is what I've been admiring for over a month now). So we fell victim to their advertising and headed up to Brooklyn Park to see what they had.

We drove home in a 2007 Grand Prix GT. It's slightly used which is good, because it drops the price quite a bit. In fact, when I test drove a Grand Prix for the first time it was in Bemidji and it was very similar to the one we got. It was new but didn't have any of the special features that ours does (leather, sunroof, remote start) and they wanted $9,000 more dollars for it! Can you believe that? I'm sure the market in Bemidji is less competitive so they can charge more but wow what a difference.

Anyways, I love it, love it, love it. Until we get a second "new" car we are sharing this one. So Chris drives it to work most days, because he drives about 10 times as far to work. Lame. :) We need to take some pictures to post and I'll try to do it this weekend.

We are just going to lay low and get some more cleaning done. Last night we got into one of those moods and cleaned until 11:30.

Oh, and we are also going to see "Enchanted". I'm such a dork. Up until last night I thought it was strictly a little girl's movie, but it actually looks really funny.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Home sweet home.

After traveling for 4 days it feels good to be home. We were so anxious to be home that we left East Grand Forks Christmas night at around 9:00. We made good time and made it home before 2:00 the next morning. It was actually a good idea. The roads at that point were really nice and we didn't have any holiday traffic to deal with. And then we got to sleep in our own bed with our kitties.

The kitties have been very cuddly and affectionate since we got back. They are also more cuddly with each other than usual. I have to think that they fought the loneliness while we were gone by curling up together.

Oh, and they ate all of their food! I couldn't believe it. We left two very large bowls of food and they ate it all in 4 days. Luckily, we left the bag on the counter top and they sort of help themselves once their bowls were empty. There was a big cat-head-sized whole in the bag.

Yesterday we have them their Christmas toys. We got them a little catnip mouse that is refillable. "Grandma" Nancy got them the Omega Paw Whirly Mouse Jr. It's definitely a hit and when I left for work this morning they were going nuts with it.

Now that Christmas is over we are looking forward to finding a car. There are a bunch of big sales going on right now, so hopefully we will find something soon.

Oh, and for those of you who know Chris' paycheck didn't come last Thursday here's an update. It really did get lost or stolen. The company checked to see if anyone had fraudulently cashed it and no one had, so they canceled the check and issued Chris a new one today. And now he's set up with direct deposit. :)

Ready to Launch.

Since the time I began working at WheretoLive.com our number one customer and priority has been building a website for Century21 Canada. The company has been working on this project for approximately 18 months and it is our V4 platform. So if you included all of the learning and work that went into versions 1, 2, and 3 this product has been 7 years in the making.

Today is the day it will be launched for the public to view. The last couple of days have been long to say the least. I've literally only slept and worked since Monday. But it's all coming together and it's worth it.

Last night the 3 "top dogs" from Century21 Canada corporate came and we presented the site. The presentation went very well and our product is beautiful. We proudly boast that our product is the best real estate website in the world and I really believe that it is. I've worked so closely on the project for the last 8 months that I forget how spectacular it is. Then when it's compared right along side the competition it's amazing how great it is. When making analogies our boss compares this site to a Ferrari. (We have a lot of car people here.)

And then there was a party afterwards. We drank lots of wine and ate delicious appetizers made by "Mom". (Our Maternal Operations Manager who cooks lunch for us everyday.)

When I joined the team a great deal of the design work had already been done by the other designer here, Gabe. However, I've still been able to make a lot contributions and it's very exciting that this will be viewed by such a large audience. Basically, I was in a group of 5 key engineers, which consisted of 3 programmers and two designers. In addition to the technical work, there was endless discussion and problem solving to ensure that every detail of this product was thought through.

So today is a landmark for our company and probably within the hour they will be "flipping the switch" to make the new site live.

www.century21.ca

Everyone at work is definitely on a "high" with all of the excitement, but I'm just ready to go home. I haven't seen Chris at all for the last couple of days (he's already been asleep by the time I get home), but tonight we are going to take it easy and watch some "Heroes" and cuddle with some kitties. :)

The big two four.

▼ This was written last night.

Whew, what a day. White chicken chili...cards...flowers...a new video camera...a new episode of Heroes...Pene got her staples out...the kitties got bathes...watched this funny Charmin commercial with a pink and blue bear...searched Temerity Jane's blog for a funny post she wrote about that subject. Now I feel the urge to write on my own blog.

Tonight I'm at T.G.I. Friday's and I'm wondering in my head, "Should I mention it's my birthday? I mean, they certainly must have some sort of a reward. It's Katie Day darn it. I must be entitled to some sort of chocolate sunday or something right?" But in the end I chose to keep it on the dl. Who wants a plain old sunday anyways? It's Katie Day and I need some cheesecake or something else worthy of the occasion.

So I'm eating my dinner and I kid-you-not the girl in the booth next to us has a birthday sunday delivered. It was a massacre. Total public humiliation. They make her stand-up next to them and then the shouting, singing, hullabaloo starts. I was embarrassed for her and thanking God that I didn't order anything alcoholic which could have blown my cover.

So watch out for T.G.I. Friday's and their false promises of free birthday deserts. They make you earn it.

Pene got cwned.

<img style="margin: 0px auto; It’s not funny…but it sort of is.
I brought Penelope home from being spayed Wednesday evening. After getting home she immediately started picking at her stitches. So an hour later I realized that it wasn’t going to stop, so I had to rush back to the vet before they closed to pick up some “bitter orange” stuff to put on the incision. And it worked really great. All night she left it alone and cuddled and purred and all was well.

Then yesterday morning I wake up to find that she has managed to completely remove her stitches. And you can imagine it was very gross and I don’t deal well with those types of things. So luckily the vet opened in about 10 minutes, so I was able to rush her in.

(On a side note…it turns out that Pene hates the vet. She is the most loving affectionate kitten you could ever ask for and it’s because of her strong attachment to us that she pitches a fit at the vet’s office. I have never heard a cat hiss and growl like that. So it’s just pleasurable to take her there repeatedly.)

So the vet glued her shut and put more bitter orange on it. Now at this point the vet recommends that I keep an eye on her for a while to make sure that she leaves it alone.

And our morning/afternoon consists of:

She licks at it, I apply more bitter orange, she leaves it alone.

30 minutes later…

She licks at it, I apply more bitter orange, she leaves it alone.

30 minutes later…

She licks at it, I apply more bitter orange, she leaves it alone.
I dropped her off yesterday morning get a bunch of stuff done (spayed, distemper shot, rabies shot, microchipped).

So it was a lonely night without her. Our usual evening routine involves Chris, Pene, and I cuddling while we watch "Lost". I think by this morning even Dahlia was really upset that Pene is "missing".

Pene loves water, so last night it was strange to not hear her hurtle herself up onto the sink when I turn on the faucet.

Tonight I think Chris and I are going to dress up the kitties in their costumes, watch some scary movies, and hand out candy to trick n' treaters.

A little something new.

Last night Chris and I bought some new bedding. New sheets and blankets are one of my favorite things. Our last set was black and white, which we chose because it was a nice compromise for both of us. It was feminine, but something Chris could live with. However, now that the cold weather is here the black and white made our room feel colder than it is.

So I needed something warm and we chose this. Although it doesn't show it on their website everything in the set is on clearance for 55% off. So Chris spoiled me and got me some of the throw pillows too. Then instead of using brown as the accent color we found some burnt orange sheets. I love how it all looks put together. The kitties like it too. Dahlia sprawled out on the new bedding and hung out with us for a while, which is unusual for her.

Getting my blogging rear in gear.

Sorry it's been a ridiculously long time since I've blogged. After months of listening to co-workers rave about how good it is we decided to rent a disk and check it out (since then we have purchased the whole season and watch about 4 episodes a night). The show is based off the classic comic book superhero theme. It follows individuals as they discover that they are unique in some way...with some sort of superpower or whatnot. There is even a character who paints the future in a comic book style of artwork.

I will admit that some of the dialog comes off a bit cheesy and especially during the first few episodes it bothered me how blunt many of the characters were. Often confiding deep secrets in others with no small-talk or build-up. The show follows many story lines and so it seemed that they were trying to cram too much info into every scene.

Then in one episode Peter Petrelli drops this line, "I've been in love with you from the moment I laid eyes on you." Now I'm never a fan of this type of attitude, because clearly you can't really LOVE someone until you know them. I immediately went into annoyed mode. Then during my annoyedness, it dawned on me that this sort of ridiculous line is just straight out of the comics. And then it continued to dawned on me that this show is not poorly written, but that the blunt dialog itself follows the style of comics. Typically, comic writers have very limited time and space to write a detailed intricate story and thus must push important facts and events out at a staggering pace. The point is...I get it now. Or maybe I've looked too deeply and it's just low quality prime-time programing. Regardless, it helps me justify this new obsession. :)

Don't forget to catch the season premiere September 24th on NBC.

Super Magic Magic Ponies.

<img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 0px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; border="0";" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_QBrWG7bhkxI/Rug4wqbsCFI/AAAAAAAAABE/aM3r2id4OnI/s200/Untitled-1.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5109396185927125074" border="0" />Monday night Chris went to his first league kick ball game and I tagged along to be his cheer leader. Chris' friend David Quamme invited us and Dave's brother Pete (and his wife Laurie) seem to be sort of in charge of the whole thing. Chris played like a superstar and caught quite a few balls for instant outs. It was funny though, because most of the people there haven't played since elementary school. The game was tied 0-0 most of the night, because it was difficult for anyone to score. Then during one horrible inning the other team scored 4 runs! And so our team lost 0-4. Other than being a little chilly (the game didn't even start until 9:00 in the evening) it was a great time. In preparation for next week I will be getting hot chocolate ready to serve (perhaps with a little peppermint schnapps to spike it with) and designing a large pink pony costume for Pete and Laurie's Saint Bernard, so he can be our mascot.

Cocktails for Creatives.

Last night Andi, Chris and I went to a social gathering hosted by the AIGA. For those who don't know, the AIGA is really the association you want to be involved with as a graphic designer. It's great for networking within the design community. They held it at Bellanotte's in downtown Minneapolis, which is a very swanky place. We had $5 martinis and some excellent pizza they provided.

We met the chapter president and other key members. I think all 3 of us are really excited to get involved in the activities they host (such as Design Camp) and possibly do some volunteer work. Most of the evening we spent talking to an interesting gentleman named Neil. He is a photographer. It's interesting to talk to people with different perspectives in our field.

The evening ended when it began to <del>rain</del> pour (we were seated outdoors) and we booked it down to Old Chicago to share some appetizers. In the past I refused to buy into new trends like this, an example being that it took me a ridiculously long time to make a Facebook account. This was mainly because just to do something because everyone else does it has never been my style. I didn't want to be a follower. I have since then realized that typically there is a reason that things become so popular. New technology can help us communicate more efficiently.
